With capitalist modernity, nature and natural life are either being destroyed or the copied wealth is not being lost. In recent years, the climate system has changed so much that we are now experiencing a crisis of profound depth even in Europe. This situation has seriously negative effects on the balance of life. In constantly growing cities, people, concentrated in the name of “sustainability,” continue to move further away from nature every day.
In Kurdistan, on the one hand, nature and people are facing great losses due to the climate crisis and capitalist policies, while on the other hand, the geography is being gradually destroyed as a result of the war policies of colonial states. There is an “eco-cide” in Kurdistan.
Ecology has been one of the main policies of the Kurdistan Freedom Movement for many years. A free, functional, and effective system will be possible only if people collectively organize everything in their lives by taking their destiny into their own hands. Only in this way can a radical, anti-capitalist, social, and self-governing structure be built. While ecological studies continue in Kurdistan, in 2024, the European-Kurdistan Ecology Movement (TEV-EKO) was formed in Europe, bringing together many Kurds living in Europe who work together on ecological treatments and distribution.
